Saying Goodbye to our Green Machine!

We sold our 1994 Honda Civic....it served us very well.  It had a ton of miles on it...and has needed very little work done to it through the 16 years we owned it.  It's seen us through many firsts in our marriage.  We've had it for as long as we have been married.  It was the first vehicle we purchased together as a married couple before we had any kids.  It's been with us everywhere we have lived as a couple.  We sold it to a guy that works on cars as a hobby - and he is going to restore it to it's glory days - new paint job, parts, etc.  He was blown away on the condition of the interior....we kept very good care of it.  I also handed him a stack of all of the paperwork or jobs that have ever been done on it - including oil changes over 16 years.  He said he has purchased many used cars to work on and fix up - and never has had so much information on the history of the vehicle.  I said, that I guess I am a little OCD about keeping records and keeping things in good shape.  He was very appreciative and a great guy.  He reminded me a lot of my cousin Jeff.  Very kind hearted and easy going and easy to talk to.  He even kinda looked like him and his mannerism's were very similar.  So Toby and I and our kids said our goodbyes and handed over the keys, and I of course had to take a couple last pictures.  Call me sentimental if you want - but there are a lot of memories that have been tied to this car and our marriage.  Lot's of memories have come back to my mind about life events that we've had with it.  It reminded me that we are outgrowing all things small...and needing more space and room for our 3 long legged giraffe's Toby and I call our children!  Ha, ha...  Toby has logged many a miles on it for work - with no air conditioning at that.  It has gotten great gas mileage - Toby is enjoying the room and the air conditioning in the suburban - and I am sure he won't miss not having a/c this coming summer as he is driving around for work appointments.
It's seen a couple run in's with animals - and also while it was parked at Toby's sister's house while we were visiting on a side road during the winter someone ran into it when the roads were really icy.
Our kids have loved it - they think it's fast and they love the sunroof and having the windows rolled down to feel the wind on their faces.  They are excited about our Suburban though - they are loving all the leg room they have now!  We haven't had a car payment in 5 years....so now we have a little one with the Suburban - the Honda doesn't owe us a dime...it served us well!  Goodbye to our Green Machine!
