Mikenna studied where some of her ancestors are from....Denmark. She completed a report and spent a good month on studying.
Then her class had a presentation day where parents where invited to hear about
their studies and listen to
their report.
also made our traditional
Ableskiver Danish Donuts to share with the whole class and shared our new year's tradition.
Toby also spoke to her class about his Danish/
Norwegian ancestors. He talked about how his great-grandfather Olaf Rasmussen, was the first to bring the Rasmussen line that Toby is from to the U.S. Toby's ancestors are pretty "new" to the U.S. He also talked about how his mom's family is from Norway, and that we have done
genealogy work back into the 1700's. He has ancestors that made shoes, he had several that were sailors - Vikings.....pretty cool for
Mikenna to learn about her ancestors. We enjoyed the process as much as she did!!
